John A. Kowtun, Jr., the founder and Managing Member of the firm, practices in the areas of investigative law and general business law, representing businesses of all sizes. He has extensive experience in legal due diligence and corporate investigations with clients across the United States and around the world.

He is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas and the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas, and Southern District of Texas.

John was born and raised in Metro Detroit and moved to the Dallas area in 1999 to attend Southern Methodist University (SMU). He graduated from SMU in 2003, earning a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, with departmental distinction (Psychology). He then earned his law degree from the University of Detroit School of Law in 2007.

After returning to Dallas in 2007 to begin his legal career, John worked with several notable Dallas law firms, gaining broad experience across business, contract, and transactional law. Before establishing his current firm, John served as General Counsel for a Dallas-based security and investigations firm. Since starting his firm, John has assisted clients of all sizes with many of their most crucial business decisions.

John is a proud member of the Dallas Bar Association and the Texas Bar College, a professional society of legal scholars who are leaders in the Texas legal community and champions of legal education.

Outside the office, John enjoys life with his wife, their two sons, and a spirited golden retriever, Liberty Bell. When he’s not working or spending time with his family, he’s learning about horology (the art of making watches and instruments for measuring time), watching sports, or grilling something delicious.
